More about me
Ian has spent over 30 years at the heart of the UK motor claims and accident management industry. He has handled every part of the non-fault claims journey, from the first questions around liability and recovery, through to repairs, car hire, injury-related services, and final settlement. Having worked closely with insurers, accident management providers, and industry bodies throughout his career, he understands how claims are assessed in practice, where friction is introduced, and why some claims progress smoothly while others become extended or disputed.
A strong insurer-side foundation early in his career shaped how he approaches claims strategy today, particularly around establishing liability, recoverability and cost control. This grounding, combined with later operational leadership roles, means his judgement is informed by how decisions will stand up to scrutiny as a claim develops, not just how they appear at the outset.
Alongside claims handling and strategy, Ian has led the operational delivery of accident management at scale. This includes overseeing credit hire, repair networks and vehicle replacement, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and navigating regulatory change and increasing insurer scrutiny while maintaining consistent service for non-fault drivers.
In parallel with his operational work, Ian has played an active role in the wider industry. Through long-standing involvement with the Credit Hire Organisation, including his current position on the CHO Supervisory Board, he contributes to governance, best practice and strategic discussion aimed at strengthening standards across the sector.
Ian reviews and approves content relating to non-fault motor claims, accident management, credit hire and insurer processes. His reviews focus on factual accuracy, regulatory alignment and whether information reflects how claims are handled in real-world scenarios. This ensures content published by Auto Claims Assist is accurate, balanced and genuinely useful for drivers navigating the claims process.
Outside of work, Ian spends most of his time with his wife and sons or out on the football pitch as a grassroots coach. He often finds that the skills needed to lead a business are very similar to those needed on the sidelines, as both roles are about helping people build their confidence and reach their full potential.
